Books App Reviews
I had high expectations when I downloaded this app. However, my hopes were soon dashed. All input has to be accomplished through the iPhone; no small task when there are 300+ books to catelog. Then I found that the synic between the iPhone and the website only partially works. I further found that the sync from the web to my MAC does not work at all. In the end, I recommend looking somewhere else. Delicious and Booxter are both excellent choices.
I paid 15 bucks for this piece of crap, only to find out that it does not check any of the major ISBN catalogues and only uses its own collecton acumulated by other users. What this means is that for any but mainstream books you get an error message that says there is nothing for your scan and you should use the Ipod, Ipad or Iphone apps. It does not mention that those apps as well do not access the ISBN databases and so you are stuck with the same popular database accumulated by their users. Learn from my mistake - do not use this companies apps until they do whatever is necessary to get you real information on all of your books or other media. PS I am using a Mac and a BarCode reader, cause, you know, its a MAC APP!!
This program has so much potential, since it is one of the only cataloguing programs that provide a desktop, iPhone, and ipad app. It falls short in many areas, however: -doesnt allow editing on the desktop version; user must add books thru iphone or iPad -doesnt include bookshelf view of personal library -very glitchy: book artwork overlaps data in my reading pane, so part of the information isnt even viewable -unrefined UI, poor use of graphics -doesnt allow .csv export Again, lots of potential, but I wish I had waited to purchase until a very substantial update had first taken place. will not be a dedicated user of this app until more functionality is included and above areas are addressed.
